    welcome to Turkey part 2

    Welcome to Turey part 2:

    One more afterthought:
last time when I was in Turkey, it did not take very long after I returned and someone started using my credit card number to sign up to a porn website. I changed my credit card number. This has never happened before. They are still investigating the case.
Now, this time, just the morning before I left for the airport, I received an email, saying, I had subscribed to a porn website, and this was my user name and password. It looked too definite to be ordinary spam.
After I arrived here and everything that's been going down in this hotel (the night receptionist inviting himself into my bedroom, and keeping me awake for two hours when I was deadtired after a long flight, until I told him to leave in no uncertain terms, the other night staff giving me a computer with a turned off modem to use for the internet, both of them trying to spy on what and to who I was writing, up to the point of asking me to copy everything before I send it , "in case the computer freezes when I push send", yeah right) I have decided to publish this warning:
if you reserve a hotel in Istanbul, and they ask you to enter your credit card number and security number on the back of the card into your online reservation form, like this hotel does, (even though they only accept cash on arrival), don't do it !
After everything I have seen and heard yesterday, this is another dangerous scam. Call them on the phone and if they do not accept your reservation like this, find another hotel. And it may be better not to use their safety box either. I was in the lucky position to be able to change the lock code on my suitcase 2 days after arrival, after I had the impression that someone had been in my room every time I went out.
Something very creepy about this fact. If this continues, I will announce the name of the hotel where I am staying, as I am fairly sure, they are reading my blog too. ; )

Well, it looks like it is going to rain again, but I think, I will try to enjoy my day and get some fresh air. Maybe a boat tour down the Bosporus? Or chill out at the blue Mosque and rest my soul for a while? I think, I may need it.
Now I wonder if my friend's Turkish boyfriend will allow her to come and meet me at the airport when I fly down South or whether he is still keeping her hostage in his home town. He has been answering her mobile phone every time I call her since I have arrived in Turkey, always asking where I am... Sigh.
Hope I have some good news for you soon.

Yours truly is off to look at the rain clouds now...
